After a month long tour through New Zealand, I can without a doubt say that Queenstown was my favorite city to visit in the whole country. So get excited for your trip! 1. Quality Hostels in Queenstown

If you’re on a budget, traveling solo, or just looking to make friends while exploring New Zealand – a hostel could be a great fit for you! Hostels offer shared spaces during your stay, so often are more affordable than brandname hotels. What a lot of people don’t realize though is that you can also reserve private rooms – that often include private bathrooms by request – at hostels too!

A private room at a hostel is the best of both worlds in my opinion: you’re afforded privacy, but also are not breaking the bank. Hostels are also often locally owned & offer unique experiences and decor that make a stay feel special.

For all of the reasons listed above, hostels are often my stay of choice in New Zealand – but I do get that they’re not for everybody! If you prefer the more traditional hotel experience, some of the most popular choices of hotel in Queenstown are provided below.

I personally consider the majority of Queenstown to be walkable and in range of all major site-seeing areas by foot, but if you prefer to stay right downtown I’ve tried to make note of those with the best location below.
