One Day in Dalian, China
Dalian is a coastal city in the eastern region of Liaoning in China that offers beautiful views of the Yellow Sea, and would be a great addition to any first time travelers to the country! If this is your first visit to the area and you’re wondering what things there are to do in Dalian (大连市), check out our recommended one day itinerary for your time there below!

1. Xinghai Square (大连星海广场)
To start off your visit, you can take a stroll through the Xinghai Square in downtown Dalian! One of the largest city squares in the world, from here you can enjoy well maintained greenery, sculptures, fountains, and a large platform that appears as a giant book that you can climb to look out at the rest of the city at! Just be careful with your footing as it does feel pretty steep towards the top 🙂
2. The Xinghai Square Recreation Ground (星海广场游乐场)
Next you can wander over to the neighboring recreation ground, which is home to a seaside amusement park! From here you can enjoy plenty of ticketed rides, games, and ice cream!
3. Pedal Boats at Xinghai Square
When you’re ready to feel the ocean breeze from a closer vantage point, you can walk on over to the rental space and check out a pedal boat to get out onto the water! If preferred, you should also be able to rent a bike to explore the city on from the same location!
4. Relax on the Beach
If you’re ready to lay back and relax after the exercise and activity from the day, next you can just find a spot to lay out in the sun at one of the sandy beaches built in along the city’s coast! 5. The Dalian Laohutan Scenic Park (老虎滩海洋公园)
When you’re ready to get up and moving again, you can take a walk through the Dalian Laohutan Scenic Park! One of its most famous sculptures is pictured below in Tigers Square, but there are several gems to stumble upon within this expansive oceanside reserve.
6. Sunset Cruise on the Yellow Sea
Last but not least, you can end your day in Dalian with one of the many cruise tour options and enjoy blissful views of the sunset from the water in the Yellow Sea!
