Lake Bled, Slovenia

The town of Bled is certainly one of the most scenic destinations in the country, and a wonderful place that I personally would spend a whole week relaxing in if I was looking for a little R&R! But no matter how long your stay, Bled gets our top spot as the place you must visit while traveling through Slovenia given its vibrantly clear waters and serene backdrops.

Our number two spot goes to an underdog: the town of Piran! This coastal city in the south of Slovenia offers beautiful views and a quiet escape into a historic port town. Add this to your itinerary for a quaint village with great swimming, scenic hikes, and delicious food.

4. Postojna Caves, Slovenia

Another top five destination in Slovenia is the Postojna Caves, one of the most highly visited caves in all of Europe! I’ve been to a cave or two in my lifetime, and let me just tell you that these will not disappoint. They are also one of the attractions Slovenia is most well known for, so you can’t truly say you’ve seen the country until you’ve made a pitstop here as well!

5. Ljubljana, Slovenia

center city in Ljubljana slovenia

Last but not least, the last destination to make our list is the capital of the country itself: Ljubljana. With canals cutting through its center and a historic castle sitting atop a hill looking out at all the rest, a stop in Ljubljana will diversify your itinerary through Slovenia and offer some great bites to eat.
