1. Kayaking on the Soča River

One of the best activities for all fitness levels in the Soča Valley, kayaking on the Soċa River should be at the top of your list of things to do! With a variety of local tour companies offering kayak excursions, you are able to embark on whichever difficulty level is best for you: from beginner to expert!

This kayak route down the river allows you to enjoy all of the beautiful views of the valley at a relatively leisurely pace while still enjoying the bit of adrenaline that comes along with traversing a natural river.

2. Rafting on the Soċa River

If you’re interested in a bit more of a thrill but would still enjoy a cruise down the Soċa River, you can try out group water rafting! There are different sections of the river that are geared towards tranquil versus white water rafting, so be sure to pay attention to what the best fit is for you when signing up!

3. Canyoning

Another popular choice to do in the valley is canyoning! This combination tour of a bit of hiking on land and jumping into the water is a unique experience unlike any other. Safety equipment is of course provided, and what a beautiful place to give canyoning a try if you’ve never done so before!

4. Sky Diving in Soċa Valley

Something I had no idea about until I was chatting with a sky diving fiend, Soċa Valley is one of the most coveted sky diving destinations in the world! Surrounded by the picturesque Alps, the valley’s snow capped mountain backdrop and clear winding rivers offer some of the most beautiful bird’s eye views around. Add this one to your bucket list if you’re an adrenaline junky!

5. Hike Through Triglav National Park

If you’re looking for a free activity, you can try a hike through Triglav National Park, the surrounding protected area in Slovenia around Mount Triglav (the highest peak within the Julian Alps).

6. Paraglide in the Julian Alps

For a big thrill – without the scary free fall of sky diving – you could also check out paragliding through the Julian Alps! In this excursion, you would be paired up in tandem with a paragliding guide, strapped into a harness, and take flight through the skies! Paragliding is one of my favorite things I’ve ever done while traveling, and I could not recommend it more!

7. Travel on the Bohinj Railway Line

To enjoy the views of the Soča Valley safely from the ground, you could purchase a ticket along the classic steam train that runs on the Bohinj Railway Line! Generally speaking, traveling by train is a relatively hassle-free means of taking in new scenery. While we had rented a car for our journey, we’ve heard amazing things about this specific train route through the region, with optional stops to get out and explore scattered villages!
